Help Save Byrons Fave Surf School!

12 01 2011

My good friend Jimmy sent me a link from my beloved Byron

Lake McKenzie, QLD

This is the beautiful Lake McKenzie – possibly one of the most gorgeous places I’ve ever laid my eyes on. The crystal blue waters are warm and clean and the rainforest 4×4 drive to get there is epically fun :) In  fact Fraser Island was one of my funnest adventures on the east coast and a trip to the largest sand island in the world comes highly recommended – check out my review HERE

3 01 2011

If your over from England you’ll have noticed the distinct lack of homely, banter filled English style pubs here in Oz. But have no fear – Byron houses a nic nak filled watering whole, The Rails.

1 01 2011

It’s that time of the year again…this time it’s 2010 I’m
waving goodbye too – and epic year full of travels that started in

22 12 2010

It dawned on my today that this time 365 days ago I’d just reached another milestone in my Oz adventure…I landed from Darwin into Sydney International, the city that I would call home for Xmas and new year.
The city that would see me reunite with old friends.

Koala Adventure Island, Whitsundays

The above shot was taken on my time on the Whitsunday Islands last month. Although the weather wasn’t ideal until the last day (typical!) the potential of these islands and the natural beauty that they contained was easily seen. This image was shot from the beach of the Koala Adventure Island (which I have reviewed HERE) before boarding our boat for the day.

An Additional 24 Hours!

13 10 2010

Turns out what I thought was my last 24 hours in Oz wasn’t destined to be so. Due to a whole heap of incidents I actually managed to spend an extra day in Australia…

My Last Full 24 Hours in Oz

10 10 2010

Ever since embarking on my Australian adventure I’ve wondered how I’d spend my last full 24 hours in this glorious country. In the surf? Topping up my tan? On a crazy tour?
Turns out it’s the small things that matter.

Guerilla Camping and Magnetic Island

7 10 2010

For the last few days I’ve been taking it easy and relaxing under palm trees on the beautiful Magnetic Island.
I’ve enjoyed the couple nights in an air conned bed too – coming up the coast has involved a lot of guerilla camping in hot sweaty tents.
