After nearly a month of absence photo of the week is back! I temporarily cancelled it due to my schedule being packed up the east coast and not really having enough time to get it sorted!

This shot is of the place I called home for my stay in Byron – a place that I left nearly a month ago before embarking on the final leg of my journey that would eventually lead me home.

Final Waves and Epic Farewells

My last two days in Byron Bay have been as good as I could have hoped for. For starters the swell has served up some of the tastiest waves I’ve had for months. The last week has been pumping.

Surfing, Unemployment and Planning

Todays been rather eventful, exciting, tiring and sad in equal measure – and for a mixture of reasons.

I’ll get the surf update out of the way – mainly because my blog is chock a block full of my surf related ramblings and also because I’m sure my brother only reads the intros to my posts….so I’ll get the jealousy in there before he switches off!

Aquarius Fire Show

Thursday night at the Aquarius bar is now another money spinner for myself and Cribby…

TOGA TIME!

With my birthday on Tuesday and Kerri’s the following Tuesday the decision was made to have a joint party – the theory was it would be bigger, better and above all – cheaper for all our backpacker friends!

The next stage was a theme….whats an epic party without a theme?!

I put Ryan and Reefe on the task – and they came back with an epic plan to host an Aquarius Toga Party!

The Aquarius Industry Party…

So last night over 100 bus touts, receptionists, pancake makers and all other manner of staff from Byrons hostels descended on Aquarius bar for an industry party.

Aquarius is up there with the best hostels I’ve stayed in whilst in Oz – and its by far the best I’ve lived in since being located in Byron.

Byron Bus Touting – The Ultimate Backpacking Job?

Life in Byron is pretty sweet these days.

The suns still shinning, the surf still pumping and I’m still working.

I have a paid job working for the infamous Cheeky Monkeys (alongside Nick, who’s helping me with this post), but it’s not the paid work that actually works out the bets for me. Sure the dollar is helpful – but it’s my second job thats actually giving me the ultimate in backpacking perks.
