Sunset Cooking, Morocco

This time next month I’ll be packing to head back to the sunkissed coast of Southern Morocco – so naturally I’ve been reminiscing about my previous visit a couple years ago by flicking through my pics! This image was shot at the Errant Surf Camp where I was staying and our local host cooked up an epic meal of BBQ fish under the warmth of an evening sunset…what better way to finish a day of beautiful surf?!

Living Free, Byron Bay

It’s exactly a year to the day that I first rolled into what would become my main home in Australia – Byron Bay. So what would be more fitting than a picture from those first few days that encapsulates the free living, hippie ideology that makes this small beachside town such a major stop on the backpacker trail? So here are my original Byron Crew – Frank, Sammy, Ben, Myself, Kerri, Katie and Dan skinny dipping at Broken Head – good times!

Base Camp, Fraser Island

The above shot was done on my last night on Fraser Island. As with most of Australia the stars are uber bright in the night sky – but especially so on Fraser due to the lack of light pollution. So I setup the tripod and decided to backdrop it against our base camp for the trip – tents, tarps and 4×4’s! For me it sums up the beauty of Fraser Island – tranquil, remote but with a dash of carnage thrown in!

Litchfield National Park, NT

This is one of the images from the last leg of my West Coast campervan trip. Before heading to Darwin we spent a few days in the spectacular landscape of Litchfield National Park – where rock wallabies, awe inspiring views and swimming in waterfalls are in plentiful supply! If you’re in that end of the world make the effort to check it out.

A Slice of Byron

This is the second in a series of images documenting the street art around the town of Byron Bay in Australia. Byron council commissioned a series of artists to turn the inanimate into stand alone pieces, something which perfectly reflects the culture Byron is based upon. This disused chimney stack lays around the back of the town towards the infamous Arts Factory and is one of my favourite images from the series.

An Aussie Icon

One of Australias great draws is the sheer variety of wildlife and animals that inhabit the equally vast types of environments found across the country; from dry arid desert to lush tropical rainforest. Many of which are unique to Australia itself – the kangaroo is undoubtedly the most recognisable of these. And with random animals comes an abundance of equally random roadsigns – from Roos to Echidnas! A great slice of the unique Aussie landscape.

Lake McKenzie, QLD

This is the beautiful Lake McKenzie – possibly one of the most gorgeous places I’ve ever laid my eyes on. The crystal blue waters are warm and clean and the rainforest 4×4 drive to get there is epically fun :) In  fact Fraser Island was one of my funnest adventures on the east coast and a trip to the largest sand island in the world comes highly recommended – check out my review HERE

Melbourne Skyline

One of the things I began to photograph the most on my visit to Australia was the architecture. From thriving urban metropolises (check that out for some pompous splurge!) to rustic outback shacks Oz has a whole range of skylines. Melbourne proved one of the most photographic and I particularly enjoyed the way the above skyscrapers mirrored each other in the beaming sunshine.

From Where You’d Rather Be…

It’s still bloody freezing outside so I thought I’d fill your internet pages with a tasty warm weather treat – a secluded turquoise bay somewhere in Western Australia, where the sun is beaming and a rather attractive lady in not very much tops up her tan…HAPPY XMAS EVERYONE!

Natures Lookout, WA

Natures Lookout is one of those many random yet inspiring natural wonders on the much under rated West Coast of Oz. It’s slightly off the beaten track but the experience of driving through the outback to get there makes it all the more rewarding. And the view from it are picture perfect. I highly recommend it.
